The tuition fees are payable on an annual basis.  Payment shall be made by four identical instalments for part-time study within the normative period of study (two years).  Students who have to extend their study period beyond the normative study period are required to pay an additional fee#.  Non-local students and local students would be charged for $4,000/credit and $3,000/credit, respectively, for course(s) enrolled beyond the normative study period.  

The first instalment of tuition fees (i.e. the admission deposit) is payable at the time of acceptance of an offer of admission.

In addition, student is required to pay Caution Money (HK$350).  On leaving the University, student's caution money shall be used to offset the graduation fee or, if the student is not graduating, be returned to the student.

Scholarships

We offer scholarships to attract and reward the best students.  All scholarships shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and personal qualities.  The number and the value of each scholarship shall be determined by the Selection Committee based on the funds that are available each year.

Computer Science Taught Postgraduate Scholarship for Part-time Students 

The Computer Science Taught Postgraduate Scholarship for Part-time Students partially supports part-time students reading for a or Master of Science in Financial Technology and Data Analytics, Master of Science in Computer Science or Master of Science in Electronic Commerce & Internet Computing at The University of Hong Kong.  The value of each scholarship shall be at least 25% of the tuition fee.  It shall be awarded to students who:

  • are admitted to the MSc(FTDA), MSc(ECom&IComp) or MSc(CompSc) programme as part-time students for 2023/24 intake;
  • have outstanding academic performance.

HKU-SCF Scholarship in Financial Technology

The recently established HKU-SCF FinTech Academy will offer five scholarship*, each at the value of HK$60,000, exclusively for MSc(FTDA) and MSc(CompSc) [Financial Computing Stream] students.  It shall be awarded to local students who:

  • are Hong Kong permanent residents;
  • hold a Bachelor's degree;
  • have outstanding academic performance.

We accept applications for the scholarship ONLY after an admission offer is made.

Financial Assistance

For Hong Kong Residents

Continuing Education Fund (CEF)Some MSc(FTDA) courses have been included in the list of reimbursable courses for Continuing Education Fund (CEF) purposes.  The Continuing Education Fund (CEF), which was set up by the HKSAR Government, subsidizes adults with learning aspirations to pursue continuing education and training courses.  The maximum entitlement for new applicants is HK$25,000.  The co-payment ratios by learners (i.e. the percentage of fees to be borne by learners) for the first HK$10,000 subsidy is 20% of the course fee and that for the remaining HK$15,000 subsidy is 40% of the course fee.  For details, please refer to CEF website: https://www.wfsfaa.gov.hk/en/ce/cef/overview.php
