Thank you for your interest in Master of Science in Financial Technology and Data Analytics Programme.  Admissions for 2024 intake are now closed.  Admissions for 2025 intake will commence in late September 2024.


Application Procedures

  1. Go to the Taught Postgraduate Online Application System.

  2. Click "Apply Now" to create your application account.

  3. Fill in the application form.

  4. After completing the form, go to the "Payment & Submission" section and arrange the non-refundable application fee of HK$300 to submit your application.

Please upload the following list of documents to the Faculty of Engineering Taught Postgraduate online admission system: https://tpgadmission.engg.hku.hk.

  • Graduate transcript with grading system (or interim transcript if graduate transcript is not available yet)

  • Degree certificate

  • Degree certificate (For applicant with Mainland China qualification)

    (i) Online Verification Report of Higher Education Qualification Certificate issued by CHSI (学信 网) & CHESICC (全国高等学校学生信息咨询与就业指导中心); and (ii) Certificate of Bachelor’s Degree* (學士學位證書)
    * Credential Report of the Bachelor Degree Certificate issued by CDGDC (学位与研究生教育发展中心) is also acceptable.
  • English language proficiency test score report, such as TOEFL or IELTS (only for applicants with qualifications from institutions outside HK where the language of instruction and examination is not English)

  • Proof of Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) / average grade / average mark (If the transcript does not show the cumulative GPA / average grade / average mark, or no school proof is available, please complete the online form in the TPg system).

  • Official proof of class ranking, if available

  • A curriculum vitae (C.V.)

  • Identity documents; Visa / Entry Permit (if applicable)

* For qualifications obtained in China, officially certified copies of Certificate of Bachelor’s Degree (學士學位證書) and Graduation Diploma (畢業證書) in Chinese accompanied by certified translation in English by the issuing institution are required.

Applicants are NOT required to submit original documents during the application stage.  Should an applicant be given an admission offer by the Programme, he/she will receive notification of the need to submit original/certified true copy of the documents.  All supporting documents (original/certified true copy), with your on-line application number stated, should be sent to the HKU MSc Programme Office:

Application Fees

The application fee is HK$300 (non-refundable), paid by credit card online.

Transcripts

An official transcript should be requested from every college or university you have attended, except those undertaken in The University of Hong Kong.  Please do not omit the back side of the transcript if it contains information on the grading system.  Photocopies of the transcript request form may be used to request transcripts from additional institutions.  The official transcript with the transcript request form should be sent directly by the registrar of the institutions to the MSc Programme Office, Department of Computer Science.  Please note that the University will only ACCEPT originals and copies of the documents that have been duly declared as true copies before a notary public (e.g. a Commissioner for Oaths at a City District Office in Hong Kong).  Copies of documents may be certified by the appropriate officials of your home institute if you are an overseas applicant.  No photocopies will be accepted.

To be considered for a round, you must submit a complete application on the day of the deadline.  If you submit an application earlier in a round, which we encourage, you will have more time in which to schedule an interview (Interviews are by invitation only.)  Applications received after the main round deadline are rolled to the next round.

The results for admission in September are normally available by July of the same year.  Hence, applicants who do not hear from the Faculty of Engineering by 31 July 2024 may assume the application to be unsuccessful.
